The Camden College of Arts & Sciences and the Graduate School 2018 commencement ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the BB&T Center, One Harbor Boulevard, Camden, New Jersey.

The Camden College of Arts & Sciences (CCAS) and University College (UC) ceremony will start at 6 p.m. and is expected to last until 8 p.m*.

The Commencement Ceremony will be held at the BB&T PAVILION on the Camden Waterfront on WEDNESDAY, MAY 16th.  There is no rehearsal for commencement. 

The ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. and continue until approximately 8:00 p.m.  The venue is not climate controlled and may be cool when outside temperatures are below 60 degrees.  

Tickets are required for all guests (see Guests/Ticket section).

All graduates and their guests are expected to remain until the end of the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to your home address within four to six weeks after the ceremony.  If you wish to receive it sooner, please visit the Office of the Registrar during normal business hours (Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; closed weekends).

Free parking is available at the lots adjacent to the BB&T Pavilion, on campus, and at the Camden County Parking Deck.  The majority of parking is on campus and at the Camden County Parking Deck.  Those who park on campus or at the Camden County Parking Deck will be able to utilize shuttles to take them to the BB&T Pavilion.  More information, including directions to the center, is available at http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/commencement/parking-directions.

All guests need a ticket for entry (with the exception of children ages two and under, who must sit on someone’s lap).  Each student will be allotted eight tickets.  Students must visit https://rcit.rutgers.edu/apps/tta_2.0 by Wednesday, April 25th, in order to confirm their commencement attendance status and also to request guest tickets.  Each student is allowed eight, but can ask for fewer or additional tickets

All tickets are general admission – there are no assigned guest seats. Guests enter through the Walt Whitman Lobby and will be seated beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Only graduating students will be allowed to pick up tickets.  Students must have photo ID in order to pick up tickets.  Rutgers ID cards are preferred, but other forms of photo ID will be accepted.

  • There will be three opportunities to pick up tickets:
    • May 2, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Campus Center 
    • May 9, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Campus Center 
    • May 16, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Will Call Window at BB&T Pavilion

 

Degree candidates should report at 4:30 p.m. to the Benjamin Franklin Lobby at the BB&T Pavilion.  Faculty marshals will provide complete instructions at that time.  CANDIDATES WILL PROCESS BY MAJOR.  Bachelor of Sciences degree recipients will process first, followed by Bachelor of Arts’ degree recipients. Students with two majors process with the major that is alphabetically first, i.e. an English and Psychology major marches with English majors.

Degrees will be conferred by major.  Marshals will start and guide each row of graduates to the stage.  Here a reader will announce the name of each candidate. Do not advance until your name is read.  After you shake hands with members of the administration, undergraduates are to switch the tassel of the cap from right to left and return to their original seats.  We ask that you behave courteously toward other graduates.  No air horns or any disruptive noisemakers will be permitted.  Graduates and their guests are also expected to remain for the duration of the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to your home address within four to six weeks after the ceremony.

GradImages will be the official photographer for our commencement ceremonies. Your proofs will be ready to view online as soon as 48 hours of the ceremony. You can view your photos online at www.gradimages.com. Graduating students and guests who require special assistance such as wheelchair access must register online by Friday, May 4th. Please note that guests registering for accommodations count towards your ticket allotment.

The expected dress is the cap, gown and hood; the BA hood is white and the BS hood is gold.  The regalia for bachelor’s degree candidates cost $103.50; tassels are $12.00.  Commencement 2018 regalia will be available for sale in the University District Bookstore beginning March 26 and continue until May 16th. You may order online now for pickup beginning March 26th.

The bookstore is located at 601 Cooper Street.  The bookstore is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday; Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and closed on weekends.  Questions may be directed to the bookstore at 856-968-1200 and sm8006@bncollege.com

Students who qualify for honor cords may purchase cords once final grades are determined.  The requirements for honor cords are 45 credits earned at Rutgers University and a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above.  The cost of cords is $15.00.  Students must present picture ID at the time of purchase.  Honors College graduates may also wear gold stoles, which are available at the Honors College office.     

Chancellor Phoebe A. Haddon, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Rutgers University Alumni Association will host a Graduation Celebration on Monday, May 14th, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. in the Campus Center.  This exclusive event is for graduating students only. Celebrate with a champagne toast!  Register at ralumni.com/camdengradreception2018.  

Students are able to make a gift of any amount to a variety of Rutgers–Camden funds, and they have the option of writing-in a fund if they so choose.  A gift of $25 (or a $5 monthly recurring gift) will be recognized with a philanthropy/donor cord to wear with their regalia during commencement.  We will honor all senior donors with an exclusive private reception in May.  Lastly, if the Class of 2018 reaches a goal of 200 senior donors, we will have a brick dedicated to the Class of 2018 outside the Rutgers-Camden Alumni House on the Alumni Walk.  Visit camdenseniors.rutgers.edu for more information. #ScarletSenior #ScarletForever
