The Camden College of Arts & Sciences and the Graduate School 2019 commencement ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the BB&T Center, One Harbor Boulevard, Camden, New Jersey.

The Camden College of Arts & Sciences (CCAS) and University College (UC) ceremony will start at 6 p.m. and is expected to last until 8 p.m*.

The Commencement Ceremony will be held at the BB&T PAVILION on the Camden Waterfront on WEDNESDAY, MAY 20.  There is no rehearsal for commencement. 

The ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. and continue until approximately 8:00 p.m.  The venue is not climate controlled and may be cool when outside temperatures are below 60 degrees.  

Tickets are required for all guests (see Guests/Ticket section).

All graduates and their guests are expected to remain until the end of the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to your home address within four to six weeks after the ceremony.  If you wish to receive it sooner, please visit the Office of the Registrar during normal business hours (Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; closed weekends).

The BB&T Pavilion has approximately 900 parking spaces that are free to those attending commencement. Free parking is also available in campus lots and the Camden County Parking Deck. Shuttles will be available to take guests from campus to the center. All guests need a ticket for entry (with the exception of children ages two and under, who must sit on someone’s lap). When submitting a Diploma Application, students can select the number of tickets (up to 10) that they anticipate needing for their guests. The number of tickets each student will receive will be officially determined in April, once all students have submitted the Diploma Application.  Every effort will be made to accommodate your request; however, the number requested is not guaranteed.  Final approved ticket allotments will be communicated in April. Students may pick up their tickets at specific pre-determined dates in May at the Campus Center.  Students at partnership campuses will have their tickets mailed to their campus advisor and they may pick their tickets up from that point person. Additional details will follow in April. 

All tickets are general admissionthere are no assigned guest seats. Guests enter through the Walt Whitman Lobby and will be seated beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Only graduating students will be allowed to pick up tickets.  Students must have photo ID in order to pick up tickets.  Rutgers ID cards are preferred, but other forms of photo ID will be accepted.

Degree candidates should report at 4:30 p.m. to the Benjamin Franklin Lobby at the BB&T Pavilion.  Faculty marshals will provide complete instructions at that time.  CANDIDATES WILL PROCESS BY MAJOR.  Bachelor of Sciences degree recipients will process first, followed by Bachelor of Arts’ degree recipients. Students with more than one major may select the major with which they prefer to walk on the Diploma Application. 

Degrees will be conferred by major.  Marshals will start and guide each row of graduates to the stage.  Here a reader will announce the name of each candidate. Do not advance until your name is read.  After you shake hands with members of the administration, undergraduates are to switch the tassel of the cap from right to left and return to their original seats.  We ask that you behave courteously toward other graduates.  No air horns or any disruptive noisemakers will be permitted.  Graduates and their guests are also expected to remain for the duration of the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to your home address within four to six weeks after the ceremony.

GradImages will be the official photographer for our commencement ceremonies. Your proofs will be ready to view online as soon as 48 hours of the ceremony. The expected dress is the cap, gown and hood; the BA hood is white and the BS hood is gold.  The cost for regalia for bachelor’s degree candidates is $104.00. Cords are $15.00, stoles are $25.00, extra tassels are $12.00, and an extra cap is $8.00. 

The University District Bookstore will host the Graduation Fair from March 23-25, 2020. Graduation products are also available online

Students who qualify for honor cords may purchase cords once final grades are determined.  The requirements for honor cords are 45 credits earned at Rutgers University and a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above.  The cost of cords is to be determined.  Students must present picture ID at the time of purchase.

Please note that the regalia is yours to keep.  The tassel of the cap is worn on the left by graduate students to signify an earned baccalaureate degree. Master’s degree regalia is $112.00 and doctoral regalia is $133.00.
