August 28th marks the fiftieth anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. To commemorate this significant day, Camilo José Vergara, a writer, photographer, and documentarian, posted photographs of murals of Dr. King from around the country on the abandoned Elgin Diner on Mount Ephraim Avenue in Camden. Mr. Vergara, who received a MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” in 2002, served as a visiting fellow at Rutgers-Camden’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities (MARCH) from 2003-2004.
