August 28th marks the fiftieth anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.  To commemorate this significant day, Camilo José Vergara, a writer, photographer, and documentarian, posted photographs of murals of Dr. King from around the country on the abandoned Elgin Diner on Mount Ephraim Avenue in Camden.  View the photo gallery here.

Mr. Vergara, who received a MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” in 2002, served as a visiting fellow at Rutgers-Camden’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities (MARCH) from 2003-2004.
