The following members of the Rutgers–Camden faculty have received honors for demonstrated excellence in teaching, service, and research:

Dr. Timothy Martin, Associate Professor of English and the Director of the Honors College, has been selected to receive the JoAnn Mower Endowed Prize in Teaching Excellence, in honor of Marie Cornelia, Christine Dougherty, and Robert Ryan.  This award recognizes a faculty member for excellence in teaching and service to students.

Dr. Martin began his teaching career at Rutgers-Camden in 1984.  He served as the chair of the Department of English for nine years, and served as the acting associate dean of the Honors College from 2009-2010 before becoming the director in July 2012.  He has also served as the director of International Studies since 2001.  Dr. Martin’s field of interest is in modern British literature and Irish literature, with an emphasis on the works of James Joyce.

Dr. Alejandro Vagelli, Adjunct Professor of Biology, has been selected to receive the Sybil Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching, which recognizes the work of an adjunct faculty member.

Dr. Vagelli has served as the Director of Science and Conservation at the New Jersey Academic for Aquatic Sciences (NJAAS) since 1999.  He has taught in the Department of Biology since 2005, teaching courses such as Marine Biology and Topics in Marine Conservation.

Drs. Martin and Vagelli will receive their awards during the Arts and Sciences Honors Convocation on May 16.
