A preview of VMPA Gallery’s current show, Crosswind by Austin J. Cuttino will hang from September 1-November 17.

Crosswind is a visual documentation of Austin J. Cuttino’s loss of his father in 2022. This sudden shift in direction sent him inward as he explored his grief, memories, and family home in order to piece together a reflection of what was and is still there. Through the hallways of memory, Austin recollects aviation talks with his father at home before this moment of turbulence. There is a wind so strong and unparallel due course that can stunt planes’ movement, a symbol all too familiar for both Austin & his father – a crosswind.

Austin J. Cuttino is a visual artist who explores identity and race. Austin received his Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University Camden, in Studio Art and Digital Studies. He holds a prior degree in commercial photography from Antonelli Institute. Recently, Austin has exhibited work at Kean University as part of its “Come Together” exhibition, as well as contributed to V Magazine and Gigi Hadid’s “The Gigi Journal Part II“.
