The Faculty of Arts and Sciences Strategic Planning Process began in 2022.  This process is aimed to be inclusive, collaborative, and intentional. The Dean’s representative for this process is Chrissy Beswick, Director of Administrative Operations. This effort was grounded in our shared commitment to academic excellence, civic engagement, and the transformative power of a liberal arts education.

Under the leadership of Dean John Griffin, a call for an initial discovery committee was made.  In early 2022, this committee helped to ask questions about our shared values, purpose, goals, and vision. This 16 member committee included representation from faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and staff.

Utilizing the formative information gathered in these sessions, the Dean formed a second committee in Fall of 2024 to focus on building a revised Mission and Vision statement for the college.  This 12 member committee included representation from administrative leadership, faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and staff.

In the months ahead, we will continue engaging our FASC community to bring this vision and mission to life through the development of concrete set goals and initiatives. We will then have ample opportunities for input and engagement through an early spring town hall and surveys to ensure inclusive feedback.
