Dr. Alan Tarr, Professor II of Political Science, was named a Board of Governors Professor of Political Science at the Board of Governors meeting on February 4th, 2014.
Dr. Tarr is a leading expert on American constitutional law, state constitutions, and comparative constitutionalism. Along with Robert Williams, Professor II of Law, Dr. Tarr co-founded Rutgers-Camden’s Center for State Constitutional Studies.
He has edited or co-edited works such as the State Constitutions for the Twenty-First Century and the 50-volume State Constitutions of the United States. He is the co-author of the textbooks American Constitutional Law: Cases and Interpretations and Judicial Process and Judicial Policymaking.
A past recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship for Research, Dr. Tarr has also received grant funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Ford Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Dr. Tarr is currently serving as a Fellow in the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University.
