The Community Leadership Center (CLC) will host a two-part symposia series exploring education equality and transformation of schools.  The first will take place on Friday, January 23rd, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.  The topic of discussion will be “Preparing for PARCC: Challenges and Opportunities using the Common Core Standards.”

This session will provide context and guidance for schools to prepare for the annual Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exam using the Common Core Standards framework. Panelists will offer guidance on how to prepare administrators, teachers and students for PARCC and instilling a culture of learning. These experts will examine the challenges and opportunities that schools have in incorporating standards and assessments into the learning environment.

The panelists are Marc Aronson, assistant teaching professor of library and information science at Rutgers University–New Brunswick; Tracey Severns, director of student performance for the Mt. Olive School District, and Raymond Yannuzzi, president of Camden County College.
