The Department of Visual, Media, and Performing Arts will continue its Spring 2024 Visiting Artists’ Program with Kathryn Frund. The lecture will take place on Thursday, April 18, from 12:45 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building, Room 110. This event is free and open to the public.
Kathryn Frund is a multidisciplinary artist based in New Haven, CT.
Her fiber installations and paintings pose questions about the complex relationships between nature and humanity, exploring the themes of stewardship and damage, fluidity, and control.
She has participated in residencies at the Newport Art Museum, MacDowell Colony, Cape Cod National Seashore, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
Kathryn has had numerous solo shows in Boston and Philadelphia and participated in group exhibitions in the Art in Embassies Program in Nicosia, Cyprus, Šiluva Art Biennial, Lithuania, Czong Institute for Contemporary Art, S. Korea, Real Art Ways, Butler Institute of American Art, Katonah Museum of Art, Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Fuller Museum, and Federal Reserve Bank. Frund’s paintings are in private and corporate collections, including Microsoft, Delta Air Lines, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, and Pfizer, Inc. Her work has been reviewed in ARTnews, Art New England, and The Boston Globe and featured in New American Paintings.
She received a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art.
