The Master of Arts in Teaching Spanish continues its Fall 2023 seminar series in applied linguistics on Monday, November 27, at 6 p.m. Dr. David Giancaspro of the University of Richmond will present “‘Ha visto mucho cambio:’ Innovation and Flexibility in Second-Generation US Spanish.”

Abstract

“In this interactive presentation, we will see, hear, and discuss three types of verbal morphology that second-generation heritage speakers use in innovative and flexible ways. After diving into the how’s and why’s of these emerging innovations, we will reflect on best ways to approach them in our classrooms.”
