Effective May 16, 2023:
In alignment with the sunsetting of the federal COVID-19 national public health emergency declaration, several changes will be made to University Policy 60.1.35 for employees and to University Policy 60.1.36 for non-affiliates. I urge you to familiarize yourselves with the policies and to take note of the following changes:
COVID-19 Vaccine: All students and employees who have not been granted a medical or religious exemption by the university continue to be required to have completed a primary series of vaccinations and to upload proof of vaccination to the vaccine portals found at https://rtr.ipo.rutgers.edu/questionnaire/.
In addition, the vaccine mandate continues to apply to contractors, Class 9 employees, and individuals with courtesy appointments. Booster doses will no longer be required unless an individual falls within the definition of a “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1.
Testing for Non-vaccinated Students and Employees: Students and employees with medical or religious exemptions from the university’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements will no longer be required to regularly test unless they fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1. Consistent with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders 283, 290, and 294, only those individuals who have been granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirements and who fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1 must continue to test once per week using self-administered rapid tests and upload their results to https://rtr.ipo.rutgers.edu/questionnaire/ while such executive orders remain in effect.
Test Kit Availability: Testing kits for COVID-19 remain available through vending machines that are located on all campuses. Students are encouraged to test before returning to campus and, irrespective of their vaccination status, may avail themselves of up to two tests per week at no cost while supplies last.
