There will be open auditions for any new singers interested in joining the Rutgers University Singers on Thursday, January 18th, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., or by appointment.  To schedule an audition, or for more information, contact Dr. Julia Zavadsky at zavadsky@rutgers.edu or (856) 225-2892.

Choir rehearsals will take place in the Mallery Room, Fine Arts Building, Room 226, every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 p.m. – 2:50 p.m. Students are required to attend both days in order to receive three credits for the course. For community singers that are not registered, attending one day a week is sufficient.

The goal of the choir is to provide our singers and audiences with a rich musical experience. Singers can expect to perform repertoire in a variety of languages (English, German, Latin, French, Italian, Spanish, Church Slavonic, Russian, Hebrew, etc.) and in various musical styles (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Twentieth Century), all of which will be enjoyable to novice and experienced singers alike.

Students interested in joining the Rutgers–Camden Jazz Ensemble should contact Mr. Eric Polack at eric.polack@rutgers.edu in order to reserve an audition time.  The ensemble is seeking reed players, brass players, and one bass player.  Rehearsals for this ensemble are held on Fridays from 1:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. in the Mallery Room, located on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building.  There will be several performances throughout the semester, including the featured performance at the end of April.  All students are welcome to audition, though they must have the ability to read music, an intermediate or higher level of facility with the instrument, and the willingness to practice and to attend all rehearsals.
