The MFA program in creative writing will welcome Dan Conaway and Rebecca Saletan on March 12th as part of its annual Publishing Panel with Agents and Editors.  The session will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.

Before joining Writers House as a literary agent four years ago, Dan Conaway worked as Executive Editor at Putnam, Executive Editor at HarperCollins, and Director of Literary Acquisitions at PolyGram Films. He also wrote about publishing under the pseudonym “Mad Max Perkins” at the blog BookAngst 101.

Rebecca Saletan is Vice President and Editorial Director of Riverhead Books. Prior to coming to Riverhead in 2009 she was Editor in Chief, then Publisher, of the adult trade group at Harcourt, and subsequently at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Over the course of three decades in publishing, Ms. Saletan has acquired and edited a range of award-winning and bestselling books. In fiction, her authors include Mohsin Hamid, Junot Díaz, Ivan Doig, and Claire Vaye Watkins. The nonfiction writers she has worked with include Hanna Rosin, Masha Gessen, Diane McWhorter, Rory Stewart, Peter Matthiessen, William Langewiesche, and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Saletan began in publishing at Yale University Press and has also held editorial positions at Random House, Simon & Schuster, and Farrar, Straus and Giroux, where she was editorial director of North Point Press.
