Call for Participants: Rutgers—Camden Digital Teaching Fellows
DEADLINE for Submissions: April 14, 2014

A recent article in the Philadelphia Inquirer talked about the significant changes at Rutgers—Camden in digital teaching. The NJ Equipment Leasing Fund Grant funded an update to our campus Internet connection and new computing and digital equipment for classrooms. Installing interactive screens will enable instructors to utilize “flipped classroom” techniques using iPads, tablets, and other mobile devices that enhance student engagement. However, we realize that faculty need training to learn how to effectively use this equipment.

For that reason, we are initiating a Digital Teaching Fellows Program. If you are interested, complete the online application below no later than April 14, 2014. No baseline digital experience is required, but we ask that you designate at least one class you will be teaching in Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 that will be the target for the skills you learn as a fellow. The Digital Teaching Fellows Workshop is scheduled for May 28-29 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. The first group is limited to 25 participants.

Fellows will receive $1000 for their participation. The May workshop is an introduction. There will be a follow-up workshop in mid-August for fine-tuning participants’ classes. Fellows will receive an additional $1000 in the semester the designated class is taught. Participants should expect to continue to participate in sessions coordinated by the TMAC (Teaching Matters and Assessment Center) throughout the year. It is important for instructors to share ideas and experiences. Additional workshop cohorts of 25 will be added as needed after the initial cohort.

This grant is only for face-to-face courses (not online), and only for full-time faculty members.

The application deadline has passed. Submissions are closed.
