On January 21, 2019, tens of thousands of people across our country will gather to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through acts of service. At Rutgers–Camden, we will be connecting with organizations across the city of Camden to participate in more than a dozen volunteer projects, including clearing garden beds, cleaning county parks and playgrounds, serving in area homeless shelters, and other opportunities to work alongside our neighbors in the city. Our Day of Service gets hundreds of Rutgers students involved with important work in the Camden community, and we want YOU to be one of them!
All participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate for winter weather to the Day of Service, as several of our projects will be taking place outdoors. Buses will be available to transport participants to their project sites; alternatively, you are welcome to use your own means of transportation if you would prefer.
During the Day of Service we will be collecting food items to help stock our Student Health Services food pantry; please consider bringing some non-perishable food with you to support this important initiative. We will also be collecting new and used books to share with the Camden County Pop-Up Library
Current Rutgers students, faculty, and staff may register to participate in our Day of Service here; if you are an alumnus or an individual external to Rutgers–Camden, please register to participate here.
