The Center for Urban Research and Education (CURE) will begin its fall season on Friday, September 15, with a presentation by Dr. Susan Clampet-Lundquist, Associate Professor of Sociology at Saint Joseph’s University. Dr. Clampet-Lundquist will present, “‘If You Can Weather the Storm:’ Urban Inequality and the Transition to Adulthood.”
Dr. Clampet-Lundquist will discuss how, for adolescents and those in early adulthood who grow up in some of the poorest neighborhoods in the United States, that neighborhoods matter, how to outline identity-making for a group of young people in Baltimore, and how public policy can disrupt the cycle of neighborhood and family poverty. This talk will be drawn from the book, Coming of Age in the Other America, co-written by Dr. Clampet-Lundquist.
All are welcome to this free event, which begins at 12:15 p.m. in the Armitage Hall Faculty Lounge. Lunch will be served.
