Join the Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities (MARCH) on Saturday, October 1st, for the Historic Preservation Workshop: Workshop and Tour of Camden’s Cooper Street. This program will discuss preservation issues and recent discoveries of the Cooper Street Historic District. Workshop participants will learn how to “get an overview of the regulatory framework that protects historic properties, learn how to do research about the inhabitants of historic properties using various historical records, explore how to develop themes for interpretation of historic districts, and be able to recognize how structures in historic districts in cities reflect changing urban environments.” In addition to a classroom discussion, there will be a walking tour of Cooper Street. Dr. Charlene Mires, Professor of History and Director of MARCH, and Ms. Dorothy P. Guzzo, executive director of the New Jersey Historic Trust, will be the instructors and guides.
The workshop, which is from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., will take place in the South BC Conference Room in the Campus Center. Registration is required and there is a $30.00 registration fee.
