The Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts (RCCA) and the Department of English have joined together to present the First Annual Marathon Reading of Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself,” on Thursday, November 13th, at 4 p.m. in the Stedman Gallery. The reading, in 52 sections, will run just under two hours.
If you would like to lend your barbaric yawp to the event, or for more information, please contact Noreen Scott Garrity, Associate Director of Education for the RCCA. If you have any original ideas for reading, such as adding musical accompaniment, or perhaps you would like to dress as Walt Whitman, we welcome all creative interpretations. All readers will be provided with text in advance of the event.
This reading is part of the “Sounds of Camden” exhibit that will be on display in the Stedman Gallery until December 18th.
