Open Humanities Field

Assistant or Associate Professor and Director, Center for Digital Studies

Rutgers University-Camden seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor as founding Director for a proposed Center for Digital Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences.  The center will serve as the campus’s hub for scholarship and interdisciplinary research in digital studies.  Candidate’s field of expertise is open, but should be knowledgeable about interdisciplinary work involving the humanities, fine arts, computing and social sciences.

This is a tenure-track faculty position with teaching and administrative responsibilities.  The founding Director will help shape the vision for the Rutgers-Camden Center for digital Studies consistent with the academic mission of the College of Arts and Sciences.  The director will coordinate an interdisciplinary academic program in Digital Studies for undergraduate and graduate students.  Additional administrative responsibilities include assisting with fundraising, as well as oversight for budgeting, planning, staffing and daily operations for the Center.

Rutgers Camden is a research campus with a normative 2-2 teaching load for non-administrative faculty.  The director position will include a reduced teaching load to compensate for administrative responsibilities.  The center’s collaborative academic program, projects, and research will reach across the disciplines in myriad ways, such as faculty seminars, conferences, publications, and digital media endeavors.  Candidates should have demonstrated digital scholarly output .  History of successful grant funding is also preferable.

Biology Department

The Rutgers University-Camden Biology Department seeks a broadly trained Experimental Mammalian Physiologist/Biochemist with interests in theoretical modeling of mammalian physiological systems for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2013.  The candidate will have the opportunity to become a member in the recently-formed Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB).  The CCIB is an interdisciplinary research center with participating faculty members from the departments of biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics.  The mission of the CCIB is to determine the quantitative organizational principles of complex biological systems, using computational and interdisciplinary approaches.  The CCIB has started new doctoral and Master’s programs in Computational and Integrative Biology in 2010.

Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (Camden Campus) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Biochemistry at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning September 2013. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry, postdoctoral experience and a record of research productivity commensurate with the rank for which the candidate is applying. Childhood Studies

Assistant Professor/Associate Professor

The Department of Childhood Studies, Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey, USA invites applications for the positions of Assistant Professor(tenure track) or Associate Professor (tenured) in the area of Global Childhoods. 

Building on the strengths of its established, internationally recognized program, the Department  seeks outstanding scholars whose research interest and projects address the lives or contexts of children and childhood with a global perspective.  Disciplinary affiliation is of less importance than the quality of a candidate’s research and a demonstrated appreciation for multidisciplinary approaches to the study of children and childhood.  We are particularly interested in receiving applications from those whose work addresses the experience of children in minority world/Global South contexts.  Applications are welcome from scholars from a range of disciplines including anthropology, economics, history, political science, psychology, religious studies, and sociology as well as scholars of Gender Studies. The MFA program at Rutgers-Camden is seeking a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in creative non-fiction (CNF), at least one book of CNF from a nationally recognized press and either a second book or an outstanding record of journal publication in a secondary genre.  The candidate will be a member of a research-based English department with teaching responsibilities in the MFA, MA and undergraduate programs.

Foreign Languages and Literature

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Camden Campus invites applications for a full-time, tenure –track faculty position in Spanish/Latin American Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2013.

We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Spanish language, literature, or cultural studies, with native or near-native Spanish fluency, and with outstanding scholarly potential and excellent teaching skills.

The field of specialization is 20th-21st century Latin American literature.  Possible sub-specializations may include, but are not limited to, Latin American cultural studies, Latin American film and visual art, Brazilian culture, and Inter-American approaches.

Political Science

Assistant Professor

The Political Science Department at Rutgers University-Camden invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the fields of Comparative Politics and/or International Relations(IR). Associate Professor

Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Rutgers University-Camden Campus invites applications for two tenure track positions at the Assistant Professor level to start in Fall 2013. One position is in the area of social psychology, we seek a candidate who is able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in social psychology, research methods, and experimental psychology.  A second position is in the area of child clinical or developmental psychology; we seek a candidate who is able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in educational psychology, research methods and experimental psychology.  For this position, applicants whose research focuses on autism or developmental disabilities are of particular interest.

For either position, applicants who can potentially contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives on campus involving (1) teacher train and education, (2) health sciences, or (3) digital literacy/digital media/communications, will be given special consideration, applicants with skills in psychophysiological recording methods, like EEG, and applicants whose teaching or research focus relates to cultural factors or diversity will also be given special consideration.

Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice

Associate Professor
