The Writers House, the Department of Biology, and the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science will host “Distilling Your Message: A Plenary for Scientists and Science Writers” on Wednesday, April 5th, at 4:30 p.m.
Christie Nicholson, producer and host of Scientific American’s podcasts 60-Second Mind and 60-Second Science, as well as a contributing editors for CBS’ Interactive’s Smart Planet, will be the guest speaker. She will discuss general principles in how to craft short, clear, conversational statements, intelligible to non-scientists, about your work and why it matters. Participants will be actively engaged during the session, practicing explaining scientific material to those not familiar with their subjects.
